BestBuy.com has Resistance: Fall of Man (Playstation 3) for $40 with free shipping. This is of course the first game worth buying for PS3. You are a soldier battling the Chimera hordes to save the planet. [Review : BizRate]

    This game is all rigid and unintuitive - it's basically a poor man's Gears of War that plays nowhere near as well.

    The single player mode on Resistance is awesome (much longer and more interesting than COD4), but the online mode is only so so (COD4 is the king for online). I really enjoyed the stylized look, story, and game play.

    #8...You got it all wrong.

    This is the rich man's Gears of War. It plays well and if you played it at release. You likely spent over $800 to play it.

    $599 for PS3
    $49 for second controller
    $59 for the game above
    $20 for an HDMI cable
    $60 or so for tax

    Total of nearly $800 to play.

    So the few pennies you paid for the Xbox toaster, is nothing compared to the greenbacks many paid to have the superior system. Luckily I waited a couple weeks and paid a bit less for my system. Wink

    This is an great game consider it was launched when PS3 first came out last year. To have this while MS had Gears was an accomplishment on it's own. Considering this title was a first gen. game on PS3 and Gears was a 2nd or 3rd gen. game on the 360 (depending on your pref.). Buy this game if you just got the PS3 this x-mas, it's worth the 40 bucks.

    I have all three systems. The Xbox SEEMS cheaper, but by the time you pay for a wireless adapter, hard drive, online access, HD drive, and all the other things that come standard on the PS3, the Xbox is actually much more expensive.

    And even if you do pay for all the Xbox add-ons, you will have a bunch of add-on sticking out of the Xbox, instead of everything being internal on the PS3. And, even then, you still won't have some PS3 standard features such as optical audio out.

    this game did come out at launch... which was a major selling point. ps3 came out with a game that rivaled gears of war which came out well over a year after the 360 did. resistance scored on slightly lower than gears... this is a must have for any ps3 owner.

    Agreed #12, I just got PS3 from sonystyle with the $100 credit

    * ps3 80 GB 499
    * ps3 second wireless controller (free included)
    * motosport game included
    * free shipping
    * tax about $40
    * minus -$100
    total $440

    my xbox I purchased in Jan was:
    xbox $349
    wireless controller $49
    wireless adapter $89
    tax about 50
    total from the get go
    about $537
    I still don't have hdmi, low storage, no hd-dvd

    see the point,
    I love both though they both have unique games that i enjoy, i would recommend the ps3 with this game, sonystyle still has the deal, except no free controller
    happy new years all!

    I had to order this game even though I probably won't have time to play. I have played this game at a friends house and it is fun. Not as good as call of duty 4 online play for the xbox 360 but still fun for a ps3 game.

    I gotta agree with #14...I've had systems since atari and commodore 64...I have an Xbox 1 and it is great...but the I've decided to continue and get the Xbox360 Elite...even convinced my wife to buy it for xmas...What A Disappointment...is is LOUD, when playing games the DVD Drive would spin like a jet engine...not to mention it is feature-less, annoying big-ass power brick...and when I checked on the Microsoft Website, the "noise" problem was all over the place...so I checked some friends who have PS3 and I went online to the Sony Store and got the same as #14:

    * ps3 80 GB $499
    * ps3 second wireless controller (free included)
    * motosport game included
    * free shipping
    * tax about $35
    * minus -$100 sign up for Sony Card
    total $435 for a full featured game/media center

    Plus 5 Blueray movies...the navigation is so much nicer like PSP...only thing I will miss from XBox is some propriety games like Halo3 and Fable2

    Well guys- the PS3 doesnt have rampant hardware failures like the xbox 360 does. But guess what, the 360 has sold way more than twice the # of consoles the PS3 has. With all the 'built in features' and everything. Why is that? Live? Achievements? Community? Same games looks better on the 360?

    http://nexgenwars.com/ - see for yourself.

    I want a blu ray player badly, and could have done the sonystyle deal on the 40gb model with a free controller for $340 or so.... but no thanks, its a PIECE S 3.

    #19,

    There is a reason 360 has sold more, b/c they have been out longer. They should have waited and fixed some of the flaws. As borrowed my friends 360 and liked it but noticed some real flaws. Noise was the biggest thing. Also, I have to pay for the online community, that just stinks. So I decided to get a PS3. So far I have been very happy, it is quiet and the ease on the online play is awesome. My firend is now thinking of changing to a PS3 as well b/c of the above reasons plus the Blu Ray thing. If you want to compare real numbers, look at sales at this past holiday when they both were available. I think those numbers speak louder.
