i have two of these that i bought for $15 each from supermediastore over a year ago (dec '0
. they feel like class 6 (haven't benchmarked them) and haven't failed yet after moderate use.
back then $15 was the regular deal, but last year these went up to $20 and more a piece (just like all flash prices) and they still haven't come down to their previous deal price that i paid.
I only buy RiData Lightning series for SDHC (and Supreme prior for SD). I currently use them in my Pentax K20D that does 14.6MP at 3fps, and recommend them do others with newer Pentax K-x and K-7 that are capable of 5fps.
Here was my independent testing with USB "block" (dd) and filesystem (FAT) operations:
http://photo.net/pentax-camera-forum/00Qpcx
You'll note from the operations versus 1GiB SD, quite a bit of overhead for meta-data operations (filesystem) in SDHC occur. I'm sure this has to do with SDHC addressing and other operational extensions being slapped on to a device that has a 4-bit interface originally designed for under 32-bit logical block addressing.
The devices are capable of in excess of 12MBps, sequential <b>write block speed, but only 6MiBps sustained, filesystem-level <b>write operations. Again, those are <b>write speeds. Read speeds are in excess of what USB 2.0 can do -- typically the 25-30MiBps in block performance is the real maximum of typical USB 0

TheBS: wow, such a good post you had to do it twice!
yeah, your postings 1.5 to 2 years ago about ridata sd/sdhc is what convinced me to go with this card, despite the fact that ridata is not as name brand as sandisk, kingston, etc.
#3 Thank you, you post was instresting. After I went to your sites and read it. I'am in for one just to try it out. I currently own two Kodak camera 4.0mp digital, Bought it 4 years ago, Cost me about 279 and 169 at that time. I know it kind of cheap. I own a Canon A-E1, Nikon F-series,they usually runs over 500 bucks each easy. I also own two pocket camera Olympus Stulus for 169 that made in Japan and a Rollie X115 for 499 made in Germany. Too bad they are all 35mm camera, except the Kodaks. Taking picture is one of my hobbies. When digital came out, All my 35mm camera is in my basement collecting dust. I also own 2 photo printer to print digital prints, Found out the best way to prints photo is Walgreen online, 10cents per 4x6 most of the time with coupons codes, while my printers cost double easy, (10cent Vs instant) and 10cents wins..
About this 8gb SDHC Flash Drive, I bought a few last year for presents but never own one and they were the class 4 made by Sandisk. I only own 2 512mb,2 1gb and 1 4gb. and they all works nice with my camera.. Another reason I'am in for one, cause I got a so many pocket size card reader that I can turn this 8gb SDHC to a USB thump drive to transfer files, Yes!. Class 6 should be faste, Thanks for your reviews..
