Starting now, Roku has the new Roku HD-XR for $130 - 50% off = $65 with free shipping [500 uses]. Features Wireless N dual-band, HDMI output for 720p HD streaming, optical audio out, USB port.
I have modded Xbox and while it doesn't do HD, it is more than enough for all the DivX movies I have. And they sit right there on the Xbox and do not have to be streamed from the computer.
Thats fine and all for people like us #6 but I wanted to get this for my technically inept family members for Christmas. I think they still have a WebTV hooked up in the living room.
This is getting so aggravating - the "Would you like to add any connection cables?" page after trying to add it your cart is horribly unnecessary in this server crippling promotion.

These Roku units do play Netflix streaming. You can now find many BlueRay players that also stream Netflix and others. They are not much, if any, more than Roku, and they play discs. Not sure if any BR players are available with wireless, just ethernet connections.
Great example of a cool technology that's unfortunately far too ahead of the infrastructure needed to support it. Can't beat the concept or price, but given the DL and performance limits from my ISP (65GB/10mbps, and I'm consuming about 45GB of that 65GB even before considering this Roku device, and I'm probably typical), it is for all practical purposes useless, at least for many many ppl. Heck, I know some ppl w/ even more severe limits (g, 20GB/month). I shudder to think of the consequences of the wife and kids getting their hands on this device. I'd be over my caps in no time, every month, and eventually have my service canceled.
#14, wow, I didn't know some ISPs were putting those kinds of caps on their service. I have Charter Cable with 20Mbps download speeds and streaming works very nicely, but we don't have upper monthly limits like that. My kids love streaming via TiVo HD or the XBox 360.
Buy the WD tv player at Best buy for $75. It plays 1080 p content. I have blue ray rips that look just as good as a blue ray player using the wd tv.
Can't get past the "service is unavailable" message.
Liekwise #2
They must be hosting their website on one of those $150 NewEgg netbooks.
With only 500 units at this price I worry we have already missed the milisecond long sale

Is this one of the units that does NetFlix?

Agree with #14. I had tested several of these streaming gadgets. For a typical ISP connection it will be too slow to enjoy.
is this alot similar to the western digital HD Media Player
get device and small too!
