Rosewill is Newegg house brand I guess everybody knows that. I am not complaining it's house brand or anything. But I do have a feeling that Rosewill is a major copycat. they copy/made whatever product that sell we ll @ NE ? Does anyone else feel the same way as I do out there ? I bought some HDD dock and found it very similar to Thermaktak's unit. This screw driver set is also very similar to no brand kit....
^ It seems that most of the time (if not all the time) it is the same factory making the parts for both the better known brand and Rosewill, then the factory surplus runs are bought up and rebranded Rosewill and put into appropriate packaging.
So, not really a copycat, just a relabel.
And the " surplus runs" got constantly supply ? But that's possible and maybe I should go back check all FCC and all safety document and also look into the import invoice from Long beach port CA then know if it is rebrand or not..
^ It's the only plausible explanation because of how vast the variety of products there are under the Rosewill brand. What small manufacturer would undertake cloning such different things ranging from cookware to furniture to PC cards to binoculars, tool sets, etc...
when a company is set up to clone stuff they clone similar items so they don't need the diversity of manufacturing required to make all these things I listed and more.
I wouldn't call it constant supply though... think of it this way:
Company A contracts with a Chinese factory to make 500,000 units. When the run is done, the factory still has everything set up to make the product, their cost for the next 200,000 is far lower per unit than for the first 500,000 and they have idle time to crank out more product if there is a buyer. Along comes Newegg offering a new contract to keep producing what they already were, or buy up excess inventory if the rate the factory can make them exceeds the sales rate under the other brand. It doesn't make much sense to have a factory produce less than the max it can so long as quality remains good and there is a buyer for the surplus.
However, that doesn't mean Newegg will continue offering a product forever, the stock is only constant so long as Newegg gets enough orders at a rate to justify renewing another order for them.
A lot of times some offshore company just tools something up and sells it in bulk to all comers. That is why you'll often see generic-type products like PCI/USB cards in a white box with a colorful sleeve over it with the "manufacturer's" name and product info all over the sleeve. Everybody gets the same white box and supplies their own sleeve. To see what I mean, visit alibaba.
OTOH, hoo gives a crap?
There does have something call : public domain product. ( In Chinese call ") Basically they copy from someone and made simple mold kit for it. Then they sell it as a kit to assembly factory. Then the assembly company get them together and out on it's own sticker ( decoration and brand name) and sell them. That's why you see many similar product around. However they won't do any CE, UL. FCC.. certification since it cost $$. ( And that's why you can get electronic parts so cheap from eBay since they don't spend $$ on safety radiation regulation.) But Basically it is kind of copycat behavior. But NE have to import them- those have to have safety/radiation certification before they can sell them. So when I return to US- I will check their certification number then we can get a clear picture of it.
I don't think this is overun product - factory will only make smal qty overrun to against defect or damage. No one will even stock hugh qty over the order qty. They will buy just enough to fulfill the order. I think it is common sense for whoever run the assembly/manufacture factory. The only possibility for run second batch @ lower cost is that they have spend $$ mold kit @ 1st batch. So they can reuse the mold kit until it fails.
BTW, " constant supply " I mentioned means they can run out of stock and get back to stock again in limited time. That prove it is not overrun from factory. Since overrun product is sold by batch. When this overrun batch is gone - you have no clue when next batch will be available .
Telling the truth about the electronic business and got a thumb down. The guy vote me thumb down want to hide the truth and allow copycat profit ?
To the guy vote me thumb down: Any better suggestion ? Why not joint the discussion? And write some USEFUL discussion ? Hide and vote thumb down is coward's behavior. GFY.
Thank you !! Like I care???
definitely not....
