This sharpener does a very nice, and quick job. It doesn't take very many passes through the slots to get a dull knife sharp. I was amazed, and that is somewhat hard to do. Just keep the blade straight, and don't tip it from side to side, and I push and pull it through the coarse slot a few times, and then the ceramic side a few times. It will be shaving sharp. You don't push down very hard, and just make smooth and slow passes the length of the blade. It does not sharpen a little of the blade close to the handle, because the wheels inside are recessed a little inside. I know that some knife snobs will dismiss this review off the cuff, and it is their loss. I have sharpened knives for my family and friends, such as Wusthof Classic, Sabatier, Henckels, as well as lesser knives. Everybody was very happy.
