I have a few of these. If it is used correctly, it will make your kitchen knives shaving sharp in just a few minutes. I am sort of a knife sharpener nut. I have an assortment of sharpeners, from a few bucks, to over $500.00.(Tormek)., and everything in between. This sharpener is not for pocket knives, because it does not sharpen 5/8 of an inch from the bolster. For pocket knives, I use Lansky. For my kitchen knives, I use this. You don't need to push down very hard. Just let the sharpener do the work. If you push down very hard, you will break the plastic spindle that holds the diamond wheels together.
