I guess i'll try one
FWIW, this model looks a lot like my old Xantrex 400W inverter ( http://www.amazon.com/Xantrex-Technologies-851-0400-400-Watt-Inverter/dp/B0001DVQNG/ ). And that didn't last too long. Thinking it was possibly just a blown fuse, I looked to replace it only to determine it required tearing the unit apart. After much hassle, the attempt proved futile since the manufacturer SOLDERED the fuse to the PCB! Apparently they want you to replace the entire unit for the sake of a 10 cent fuse. I know a lot of the Rosewill stuff is just rebadged goods from other manufacturers, so I'm always leery when I see something similar that has let me down in the past.
I've never had any luck with several low-power cheapshit inverters.
They all self-destruct somehow or another.
They never seem to handle their rated power.
Have three of these in use. Use them to power battery chargers for 18v Li-ion tool batteries, charge laptops, charge cellphones, charge AA & AAA batteries, etc. between stops. Hardly ever have over 300W load on them and they have been in daily use for over 2 years with no issues. Bought four to have a spare; spare is still sitting on shelf in storage. The previous inverter used was 400W generic from a local auto parts store, and they all failed within 14 months.
This is a good inverter if you don't push its limits. At least it's been for me. Running any device near its rated limited temperature, load, etc. will shorten its life considerably. Running devices 70% to 80% of capacity or less, usually means reliability and longevity.
I also have one, though I have only been using it for about a year. I have had zero issues with it while taking multiple road trips.
#4 is right on target. Heed his advice.
