#1 - That's what I was thinking, but my monitor has d-sub and dvi inputs, I already have both machines connected to it. With this I'll be able to use 1 mouse and 1 keyboard, and only $15!
#1, I do. That's all my ancient (but still working great) 19" CRT monitor has inputs for. Why replace something that works fine?

IMO, this one is obsolete, no DVI - most laptops come with DVIs these days, and so do desktops.
