Why would someone want to cripple 8 SATA drives with a USB interface that can't handle the throughput of 1?

Ok, eSATA is much better. I actually have the SansDigital version of this case and it works well but I've found the Silicon Image chips in the enclosure to be picky about the specific drive used in the drive 0 position in each of the two port mutiplier connections used. Seagate drives appear to work well but not the 1TB Samsung Spinpoints.

The throughput of the enclosure appears to max out at just under 200MB/s even with 4 drives in Raid 0. I was able to also use it with a RocketRaid 2314 card which allowed me to span RAID across the two interfaces and gain a little throughput.

Software raid. Waste of drive potential sticking them in there. RAID is a bitch. Throughput is ass smegma. Too bad. 8 bays woulda been rockin on a 3ware/lsi card.
