A good knife set is hard to come by. We have 1 at home. Looks about the same quality. We love them. They are the best if you are NOT a vegetarian. haha

Note: these are probably Chinese-made knives (not 'real' French-made Sabatiers).

I got a similar-looking set a couple of years ago from Amazon - "Made in China" but Sabatier-branded. They are pretty good - heavy, nicely weighted... but they lose their edge fairly quickly - you have to sharpen each time you use.

      Great value for money though.

I've had this set for 2 years and it's a great knife set. Like any other carbon steel knife in the world, including the French made Sabatier knives, DON'T PUT THEM IN THE DISH WASHER! They will rust. I recommend a handheld carbide or diamond sharpener from Cabelas to keep them sharp. No such thing as an everlasting knife edge. I guess you could buy a pyramid to keep them sharp.

Yeah, the chinese knives are garbage. I got Henckels that also have good reputation and my father's no-name $24.99 knives are sharper than Henckels.

Got this set about a year ago and their sweet. The 7" Santouku is the best. I'm not sure if they're made in an LCC, but they aren't cheap knives, maybe one notch below a Avbaconrade set of Henckels. They stay sharp as any over knive and are nicely weighted. I like that they weren't black, although the handles "bleed" some of that redish color if left wet on a dish towel especially when new.

Get Kershaw Shun knives. They are the best. Pricey though. But all you need is one chefs knife to be a good multi tasker. Or MAC knives are a good more affordable alternative used by proffesional chefs everywhere.

Shun. 300 for a 9" yanagiba? I actually prefer my Messermeister knifes over just about any other brand Ive used. Better even than the Henckels I have and up there with the Global I have.
