what's the point of making enclosures that don't use standard 5-pin mini-B USB connectors?
it looks to me all 2.5" enclosure taking extra USB ports, one for data, one for power. people need to learn from WD, combine them into one is gotta be great
actually, i have a nexstar enclouser an i only use one mini usb cable and it works just fine.
I have one of these that I put an old laptop drive in and it works great. The Y cable is in case your USB port doesn't supply enough power with just one port. I tried it on three different PC's and it worked with just one of the cables pluged in on all of them.
