why the hell does "high gloss" matter when buying this monitor?
Easier to wipe your spunk off after watching all that porn you downloaded.
Any other diff between the 2253BW model other than the 0.4"? TIA
I dont watch porn, its pointless since my mother comes over to take care of those needs....
how nice of her!
I believe this is the newer version of the 216BW, but I'm probably wrong.
smaller pixel pitch than the 2253BW. supposed to make the image look better. a lot of 24" LCDs have 0.276mm as opposed to 0.282 mm, which most 22" LCDs have.
It looks to be the exact same body as mine, which is the 216BW...mine has pretty bad light bleed across the top, which is annoying since I like dark wallpapers...
I have a gloss screen only laptop which sucks ass. Every spec of dust shows, and the glare from ceiling lights is awful. Not so much a problem if you're using the monitor at home, but windows still suck. I'm not that pretty and I don't want to be looking "through" my own reflection all day.
#4 Does my mom make house calls?
#1/#4 is a sick, sick puppy....
#6: Thanks. I'll end up getting this probably vs. an expensive 24" PVA/IPS. I already have an Aquos 42" for HD anyways. I'm upgrading from a Dell 1907FP (Samsung panel), so this should be quite an up. Design/Gaming shouldn't be that much affected--just probably need to tweak the color settings.
Also for everyone, just FYI, GCO/Buy.com sent out a coupone "$25 out of $75", which makes it $225 AR$20, and $215 AR$20 + GCO$10. HTH. Thanks.
PS. Costco might have the same monitor too. I'll check later on. It'll probably be higher than NE and Buy.com but worth checking out in person if any.
How would this compare with the HP W2207 22" for $249.00 at Amazon?
How does this compare with a Lite-Brite monitor?
It's much harder to push the plastic pins into it.
#8, Yes!
#10 - great info. I just talked to a friend who is in the same boat as you looking at this monitor.
High gloss just means glossy hard shell, which gives higher perceived contrast, is harder to scratch when using or cleaning. Downside is the reflection, in certain room lighting conditions that can be pretty distracting. Personally I want gloss on a laptop and not on desktop, but would pick non gloss if I could only have one or the other unless it were an industrial setting more likely to damage the surface.
Above I mean on the screen, the high gloss on the frame serves no purpose except to provoke monkey love.
Okay, just came from Costco and bought this and the Samsung 245BW 24". Some findings:
* The 24" is brighter than this 22".
* The 24" has an adjustable height/lift, the 22" doesn't. If you're desk is like mine (Ikea), you'll have to tilt the 22" up towards you. So you're pretty much looking at an angle, not too bad, but something I'm not used to as I had a Dell 1907FP--so it's at eye-level.
* The contrast on the 22" is definitely 5k more (dynamic contrast); you just won't be able to set the Brightness if you have it turned on.
* The buttons on the 24" are definitely easier rather than right-underneath for the 22"--which is hard to set as you'll have to feel your way around a bit (at first).
* The footprint on the 22" is smaller. So if you're desk is not as wide like mine, then the 22" is best as the 24" is 6-8" in from the end (near the wall).
* Game play wasn't really affected by the difference in ms by either monitor; its only 3ms difference.
Conclusion for me. I can probably stick w/ either. I can probably prop the 22" on something (maybe my MyBook) so it's 2-3" higher at least. I'll probably won't be setting it that much after I get a good color via Adobe. Meanwhile, if I stick w/ the 24", though I heard it's brighter than the Dell 2407WFP-HC, the Dell has a smaller footprint and better panel. I'd pay an additional $100+ for that if any. Anyways, I'll probably do stick w/ the 22" for now--I have 3-months to see if that Dell 24" will ever go down. HTH
GCO doesn't seem to show up for me.
how unfortunate.
