Dang, this is tempting. 19x12, nice response time, and insane contrast ratio. The lowest I can see this going in the foreseeable future is $260, so if you're willing to gamble ~$20 it might be worth going for it.
Oh, and if you can deal with a rebate. I try to avoid them when possible.
not a bad option for tv/computer monitor when using media center.
i hate that they always dangle the cheese infront of you with these rebates. yeah its a good price for $280, but you have to pony up 330 and then wait and hope that you get the rebate before they come out with a cheaper model. I have sworn off rebates and i will never buy anything with a rebate again. Think if we all just boycotted rebates? I don't even want to think about how much money the companies make from unfulfilled rebates. And who is to say anything about your rebate once its sent in? I mean they could just claim they never received it, you didn't complete the proper steps... there is a whole slew of things that could happen. $50 isn't worth the risk IMHO.
This is a very good monitor, I saw it on display at a store. Only downside is it doesnt seem to be have USB ports...
price wont' go down much lower than this, practically speaking. 50 bucks isn't that much money so i'm going for it.
I have NEVER had a rebate go south on me....we make copies of our paper work and ensure that tracking is provided.
If you aren't a pathetic schlep that does things half-assed then there's very little chance of something going wrong.
Besides, this one is a Samsung rebate...and not some third world retailer's promise.
Sweet deal!
Samsung monitors are top notch. I've been using a 19" for years without any problems then just upgraded 6 months ago finally to a Samsung 22" wide screen. Love them!
only thing is....TN panel
whats wrong with TN panels? (i really don't know)
Samsung rebates are very reliable, just be sure you put the right stuff in the envelope. I've had half a dozen from them with no problems. They're even fairly quick.
Very good deal on the screen size and good quality monitor. I would buy on, but just got the 26" one.
very tempting for a samsun :O
#9 TN panels are fine for most users. They are also good for gamers typically because they tend to have the fastest response times. However, TN panels cannot fully reproduce the entire color gamut, meaning there are some colors that they just won't produce that other panels will. The other popular panels are VA and IPS and are more expensive, but will produce the entire color gamut and then some.
I haven't had any issues before with Samsung rebates.I got the $100 NFL gift card 2 years ago with my LCD TV.
finally, a deal @ Bhens
Tempting...
#5 prices always go down if you can wait
seriously tempting...
I'm with #6. I don't mind rebates much at all. Just have to pay attention to what you have to do to get the rebate.
#13 Thanks for the informative and helpful response!
Here is a good wiki article on TN LCD's.
Does this have a glossy screen? I don't know why they never list this in the specs?
it has anti glare coating i think
TN panels are annoying because of their distortion at different viewing angles... especially vertical viewing angles.
Disclaimer : I have three 22" viewsonics TN panels on my desk at work. I have 2 2001fp dells on my desk at home.
