More often than not, yes phones can be unlocked. (especially nokia go phones) But I would check to see if they are quad band capable on phonescoop.com first. Otherwise it's not worth your time.

#3 Actually Nokia GoPhones are harder to Unlock than the Samsung Basic Phones.

It's worth your time to unlock the A117 Dual Band if you need to use it for Tmobile in the US.

Just wait for the Quad band Samsungs to go on sale for $19.99.

This phone is a POS the call quality is horrible, display is bad. the speaker is not loud at all. if your going to for the go phones, please go with the nokia 6085, the v3, or something like that. phones that used to be sold with 2 years plans generally are better than the phones that strictly come out for go phone.

The lower-end Samsung phones never seem to sound as clear as the more expensive models, but I notice the CNET editors said this one wasn't bad and gave it a 6.6 out of 10:

As for unlocking a phone, it pays to do a little research before buying because the cost and difficulty can vary enormously. With some Nokias, for example, it's free. You just need to either download a code generator or else go to a web site that will provide a number for you. Then you type it into your phone, and, bang, you're done. But other Nokia models are almost impossible to unlock without getting the code from your cell provider - and some won't give it to you. (The last time I checked, the BB5 phones, which include the N series, were only unlockable this way.)
