Blu-ray disk sales are REALLY awful, which means the price of these boat anchors is coming WAY down, and soon. Razor and blade business model - sell the razor cheaply, sell blades for a lifetime.

Sony will be forced to drastically lower their licensing rates for both the hardware and encoding technology. They may even quietly go back on their "We won't license the encoding to porn producers" statement, which companies like Digital Playground have gotten around anyway.

Toshiba is looking smarter and smarter for having walked away from HD-DVD with a bundle of cash AND a fire-sale price on a semiconductor fab plant (which is what Sony gave them to go away).

No Blu-Ray porn? How can you tell one starlet from another if you can't make out individual pores during the money shots?

I convinced my Dad to buy one of these after reading some decent reviews, and it turns out to be a really good player. Definitely recommend for this price. He bought his for $199 from Amazon.

Also Blu-Ray disc sales are not "awful." I don't know what this guy dd is talking about but almost none of it is true.

Well, you don't *have* to, but go on, anyway. It's fun!
