Tiger Direct with Tiger Direct has the refurbished Samsung BD-P1590 Blu Ray Player for $100 + $0 shipping = $100 shipped. Aside from being a Blu-ray player, this also doubles as a Netflix and Pandora streaming player. [Compare]

Hey everyone: Let me ask a tech question here if I may. For Xmas, I sprang $300 for the LG BD390 blu-ray player (my first) because it has wifi built-in. I love the Netflix streaming, but hate running CAT5 cable all over (very difficult in my house).

I would love a Blu-ray for another room in my house. Could I take this $100 player and hook it to some sort of Wireless Access Point and have THAT WAP thing talk to my wireless router, so I could stream Netflix wirelessly with shelling out $300 for the wifi-enable player?

This link might answer your questions if Ben's filters don't burp it all up:

Ben's filters can't be doing that well, your post didn't have the word "Bacon" in it....

As for this player, I would note that it's being sold by TD - which I learned long ago to shy away from no matter how cheap the product is priced. They may well have improved, but, once you've been shot several times, you usually learn to stay off the battlefield no matter how "safe" someone says it is....

techsupport: the link doesn't work...is there some other way to get to the article?

gummy: I agree about TD. I would probably get the bd370 from newegg.com, for about $140

Thanks! I found something that is designed for this:

    The Buffalo wireless bridge WLI-TX4-AG300N.

Very cool...could have saved $100 over the BD390.

Samsung Blu-Ray players = crap total crap

There are more refurbs on the market than there are new these days. They stop playing discs, their drive bay door springs break leaving a floppy door, there's just so many issues.

For wireless access, get a router that is capable of being flashed to DD-WRT or Tomato. Then you can set it up as a wireless bridge. Often they can be had for around $30. Works great for me at 5 locations in my house, until I run ethernet everywhere.

I've been using the original Roku for over a year and I like the Netflix on this player as well. It has also played all the BluRay I've thrown at it so far. Great player for me.

Just got one about a week ago. For the price, I think its a pretty good deal. It upconverts the standard DVD and looks good using the HDMI cable. A little slower starting the streaming of netflix versus my Roku player but the interface is simple to use. You can play mp3's and jpegs from a USB key on the front port. All in all for $100 I think its a worthwile spend. A nice jump from my APEX lol

Make sure you get an extend warranty. If this is the same samsung model, I saw a stack of them on the open box table at Best Buy yesterday.

You could also try a powerline adapter.
