No kidding. With so much content out there already available in HD (OTA, satellite, cable) a lot of ppl are finding it hard to justify paying for a BD player at current prices, even if they offer the best in HD quality.

^^^ Silly comments. People think nothing of dropping 1K, 2K or more on an HDTV, not to mention what's spent on a home theater, but balk at getting one of the few devices that can actually give one 1080p content, highest quality audio, as well as streaming Netflix and other services. How much is that satellite service costing (with premium services)? What about cable with premiums? Getting those newly released HD movies on OTA? "But my upscaling DVD player gives me Blu Ray quality already!" Um, sorry; not quite.

This "I'll wait" mantra is fine if you don't want to have access to the content. You can say that for anything, including HDTV. Hey, just get a DTV converter for your old analog set, and wait for all HDTV's to come down to $250 for a 50". Now, that's a strategy.

At some point, you need to pull the trigger. Or, keep on waiting...and go without. Your choice.

Damn, I'm forgetting that BF will give us all top-rated BD players at under $100. And if not, at least next year's BF will!

#4 you are forgetting who you're talking to here.
I just waited until a couple of weeks ago to get a 40" 1080p set for $550. Now I'm getting a BR reader for my htpc (built on the cheap of course) for $60 because I waited. So now that I have that I may never get the standalone BR player, but if I do I'm waiting until they are cheap! I have a feeling I'm not alone here.

Have to agree with the "I'll wait" crowd. Bang for the buck BD just doesn't seem to cut it. If you have the extra $$$ for the players and the disks and demand the absolute highest quality I guess it's your only choice but if you're willing to settle for just a hair less then top quality there are much cheaper routes.

Well I don't know about waiting,, I only own one blue ray disk ($10 from a bargain Ben) But that up convert 1080p sure looks much better than my 2 year old 1080i up convert dvd player.
And the optical audio works quite well. Netflix video is a must have, hate watching movies on a PC. Pandora sounds great.
WARNING! I bought a Sansung BD-2500 11 months ago and it has died all ready. Samsung warranty 1 year parts, 30 days labor.
So if you buy this be sure to get no questions asked Best Buy warranty for $24.95.
