BD-Live Ready means that they plan to add that functionality through a future firmware update.
this is ... a good price for blu-ray- glad to see prices are coming down! my parents need one as they have a nice new tv, and now need a blu-ray player to go with it
Predict Black Friday deals at $99 for Blu-Ray players. Retailers are going to be struggling and they will need some great or crazy deals to get people to come in.
plays MPEG2... is that even worth advertising?
....just to let everyone know.....no problems with iron man, rambo, new indiana jones, james bond...regular dvds ....go for it....
burp Sony.
sincerely,
toddsucks
Most predict that Blu-Ray's flame is only going to burn for 5 years or so before downloads and other tech takes over. They better start dropping these prices fast in order to create a customer base before people figure out better alternatives are coming.
#7: Don't hold your breath for download. Internet providers are already screaming of the high bandwidth usage of movies downloads.
Second, you don't get high definition audio and bonus materials. Sure it's possible to add that to download but that also increases the bandwidth usage that Internet providers already hate.
I don't think I can hold my breath for 5+ years! It's not going to be like CD's or DVD's. Technology is moving much faster these days and that's not going to slow down. I have faith that those who will profit from it will figure out how to give us a FAT download pipe
Set-top Blu-ray recorders next year...

Amazon has the same player for 214.99 with free Matrix Collection
#10 - meh ... gonna be too expensive to start out with, and i don't need it that bad- doubt i'll need it at all. i'm good with my DVR- as crappy as it is
ISPs are screaming about people hogging upstream bandwidth for file sharing. If content providers could supply high bandwidth movies in a legal and usable form I'm sure the ISPs would be happy to sell us a bigger pipe.
can it play .mkv file?
Finally an alternative from Sony!
BD Live - automatically keeps your rootkit up to date!
hmm, with this price, I have hard time to decide to buy PS3
