Neither of them is a deal . $221 is a ridiculously high price for a damn player that costs about $10 to manufacture. Sure Sony has to recoup research costs, but not like this!!

I am quite sure that if they priced their players in the 100's and their blank media to about twice the cost of dvd media, they would sell atleast 5 times more units than they are selling now. That way you would see more Blu ray discs out at video stores instead of just 40.

They are just trying to make money while they can.

Sorny players always have the least features/compatibility. Their DVD players have never supported MPEG/AVI files burned onto disc. They can't play back Xvid/Divx. Expect no better in their BlewRay line.

Every piece of Sony gear I have ever owned with a motor in it has failed within months of the warranty expiring. Their electronics are fine, their mechanical builds are dog baconnaise.

With the economy tanking, retail sales this Christmas are going to be a frigging DISASTER.

Purely discretionary items like this are going to sit on the shelves gathering dust while people try to figure out how they're going to pay their heating bills, car payments, gas, and mortgages.

Unless you simply HAVE to have one right now, it's likely it's going to be half this price after Christmas.

Come to think of it #5, my old Sorny VHS player's eject motor died. Granted, it was past its warranty, but this was a high-end model at the time (read: expensive flying erase heads). I've seen cheapo 10-yr old VCRs from other makes that work to this day. Never again, Sorny.

I've tried the amazon link from #1. The Blu-ray player is not sold by Amazon. The price was $209 + $8 shipping. But you cannot get the free Blu-ray Matrix set because the player is not sold by Amazon. The same player is $279 - $50 coupon at Costco now. Seems like the CircuitCity deal is better.
