this might be good if its a single platter drive. kinda small capacity wise though.
Might be good, 1 platter. Warranty is 3 years parts and labor.
is it still ecogreen if I throw away my 3 current 500GB drives and replace them with 3 of these?
not cost friendly though
#3 ... good observation posed as rhetorical question ... he he!
so 5400RPM is green?
Wow, I was saving lots of money pre-2001 and didnt know it.
"5400RPM ought to be enough for anybody" - anon
This drive is black.
I don't think that race should have anything to do with this.
Click on the warranty link at ZipZoomfly for this drive and see what the manufacture says about the warranty. Good luck finding warranty info from Samsung.
#9, I don't think so either but those godammed affirmative action policies say otherwise.
Is this better than the WD GreenPower or about the same?
You guys are f'ing stupid. Eco Green is the color they paint their drives...
No, Eco Green is the stuff they make their platters with, so they are biodegradable. All your data are belong to the Earth.
No, Eco Green is people!
that's soylent green
(1973 with Charlton Heston)
5400 rpm gtfo
#16, FAIL.
Soylent green was with Steve McQueen "Do you feel lucky, punk. Well, do ya?"
Just say no to morons who don't get it. The time spent pondering this tiny energy difference wasted more energy that would ever be saved.
The green thing to do is turn off your computer. Goodbye, sorry to see you leave the internet.
#18, triple-fail.
Bullet was with Steve McQueen (gotta love it when the bad guys "buckle up for safety"), "do you feel lucky..." was Dirty Harry with Clint Eastwood, and "Soylent Green" -was- made out of "people".
I suppose "Eco-Green" means that no baby seals have ever been clubbed to death by one of these drives...
ALL SATA II drives sport "3.0 GB/sec" because that's the burst communications speed. It's the MEDIA transfer rate that's important. This "slow" 5,400 RPM drive is spec'ed at 166 MB/sec which isn't too bad--it's faster than some older, 7,200 RPM drives.
