You need to use 2 USB ports, but still better than having to plug in. This is a good deal. I paid $75 fro mine.
If you need it for a laptop, maybe. If you need it for a desktop you'd be as well off with a regular external enclosure and the drive you want inside, plus the option to upgrade/replace the drive later.
