You can certainly get better deal at Sears or elsewhere for a 40" 60 Hz LCD TV! Even for a samsung. By the way, even Samsung, the world's biggest LCD TV panels manufacturer, buys about 40% of its LCD TV panels from Taiwan (AUO & CMO). About 10~12 millions panels of the about 25~26 millions LCD TV it sold each year are from Taiwan. The percentages of such outsourcing are even much higher at other brands (g Sony & Panasonic both do not basically manufacture LCD TV panels. Sony has the S-LCD joint venture with Samsung, but they are basically samsung factories that sony paid for half of their outputs).
