good printer.
good deal if you can pick it up and avoid the shipping. slightly cheaper than it has been for a rebate price 47 instead of 50(or 60).
best no rebate price is 55.
With the rebate, it makes it an awesome deal if you print B&W in volume. And cartridges are available online for about the same price as the printer.
KILLER deal if you ask me! I'd jump all over this if it was near where I live.
I don't know about "in volume" #2, this is a really light duty printer just not built for volume and that's also echoed by the meager 3K page cartridge capacity (though IIRC, the starter cart it comes with is only 1K pages?). It's best use is for someone who occasionally prints B&W and wants faster printing and no dried out ink cartridges due to low volume, time lapses. For that purpose, yes it's quite a deal.
That said, you should still be able to get 100K pages out of it easily, the cartridges do have the drum in them unlike some of the lowest end color lasers so there's no hidden cost there.
If you buy new cartridges instead of refurbs, you can expect the new drum to last through at least a couple refills. Refill toner on ebay is about $12 to $15 delivered for a pack of 2 or 3 bottles of toner, I forget which.
I got maybe 300 pages out of mine before I had to shake the toner. Very light use, though, so it had to cycle on for probably every 3 pages or so. (Seriously, who prints nowadays?)
When I threw out my oldest printer a little over a year ago (HP Laserjet III, back when printers were built like tanks), it had somewhere over 650K pages on it. I lost track after 500K. 2nd oldest printer, now oldest has over 400K pages on it. Some people print a lot more than others. Sometimes email isn't the right means of communication or is used in parallel to the good ole USPS.
Stinkyink now offer toner cartridges for the Samsung ML2510 toner. Oh and it's free delivery too!
