Got one of these last year as a backup for a Konica Minolta. Damn vista x64 doesn't have drivers for the old laser so I had to move on. Installed this thing but it won't print down the middle of the page. Worst laser I ever bought. I got it cheaper than this too, Black Friday I think.

Apparently it could have bad toner - it was new in box but the 'starter' toner that comes with this sucks. It could be the heating strip not getting hot enough in the middle - but it was a new printer, would expect it to work at least once. It could be the LSU, tried cleaning it (I think, it's well hidden), but shouldn't the packaging have kept it clean?

Sounds like you got a bad unit. I got a Dell 1110, which is basically the same unit as this one I think, rebadged Samsung, works pretty OK. Printing in linux is a challenge, but that ain't the printer's fault.

      What about the warranty?

      I have a Samsung ML-1740 that's been running great for 4+ years.

Cheap printer, but my friend's son had it at college and he's used up 3-4 toner cartridges so far and it prints great. I got it for him for $30, though, so this doesn't seem like a great price.

monoprice has the toners he used for not too much.

Good printer but I could not find a Windows 7 x64 compatible driver. Mine has been working great with XP & Vista for a couple of years. Combined with a $20 D-Link Ethernet print server it makes a pretty good networked printer.

I have a different model, but Samsung seems to make awesome Laser printers. I can't wait for the color laser printers to fall even more. Smile

I have this printer and love it. prints clean and quick, no noise when on stand-by, and quick start up when turned off. definitely worth what i spent ($50)
