I have one of these and like it very much. It's a well-designed printer - extremely small and quiet for a laser with duplex. Software is fine - not buggy, lots of good options. A bit better for Win than Mac but Mac does have all the options (I use both on the network this prints from). Network setup was easy. I paid about this much but I think they sometimes go on sale for less at the big office supply stores.

Would any one recommend this printer over Samsung CLX-2160N Multifunction Printer for $200? I don't care about the color, I more worry about the cost of ownership. Thanks.

Read the Amazon reviews of the Samsung. Not so good.

What's with this monochrome? Do they have a model that prints black and white only?

#2, for printing only greyscale the ML-2851 has a lower TCO. Practially all smaller color lasers cost a lot more to use due to smaller cartridge toner capacity, and they're more apt to break because the mechanical parts are reduced to fit in a smaller form factor while still having room for 4 color + black carts and a more elaborate toner transfer belt or multidrum assembly.

One thing about this printer, it does't state whether it starts with a full 5K cartridge or a less # of pages starter cartridge. That alone could be a roughly $40 difference in value.
