Amazon has the SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC256B/WW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) for $180 with free shipping. Features 520MB/s read and 400MB/s write rate speeds.
This is the Fastest samsung drive for consumers till Oct 15 when the 840 TLC (3bits per) or the 840PRO MLC (2bits per) comes out. If it doesn't get delayed that is. I hear the 840pro 256GB bests even the Vertex 4 512GB in almost all tests. anyway we'll have to see with retail firmware before making any real judgements. If you are on the fence might want to wait another 3 weeks.
I'm running a couple of 830's. Great drives. Fast, and without all the SF-2281 issues. Very reliable, and 840 is not likely to outshine the 830 in a normal nonbench environment.
Prices on the 830's should drop when the 840's come out, at least until they start going out of stock.
Very happy with my one of these, despite paying a ways more than this.

Wow, this sure expired fast. I got one from B&H Photo last week for $182 shipped, an even better deal, since Amazon now collects sales tax in CA.
840 looks like the performance king, if it's anything close to the Pro model. There's a good review of the Pro model: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/840-pro-ssd-toggle-mode-2,3302.html. New controller tho'...Anandtech had an initial test unit fail.
