    Yeah, that's too bad.

Because it would have the best picture of any LCD ever made.

i have a 42" panny plasma that is approaching seven years old. people that say plasma isn't as good or that it has less life expectancy are not speaking from experience or data...just babbling what they've heard other people say. mine is a 2nd generation i think...30,000 hr expected life before picture is 1/2 as bright as it was new. newer models are 60k+ hours. do the math.

Guess I am just babbling - the few tv repairman that actually do still exist say that most of the work done to a plasma is the transformers and if they go it is better off to scarping it. Plasmas have several transformer and use more power - LED LCD is the way to go depending on budget.

so if a major component goes out on an LCD, it's not scrap either? where is the MTBF data on these horrible plasma power transformers? it's a circular argument anyway...so we can just agree to disagree. either way, you are right with the LED LCDs...those are nice, more energy efficient, and thinner. i would get that simply for the weight savings. BUT, if a good plasma is on sale, there is nothing wrong with going with that since the IQ is still great.

I just bought a new Samsung. Plasma. Why? Viewing angle much better than LCD and a damn good picture.

This is NOT a good deal.and there is NOTHING wrong with flat panel LCD tv's...viewing angles are just as good as Plasma.....rear projection now they do have angle issues....

Very tempting. Quicksand-- thanks for the 3rd hand anecdotal data. I shall pass the wisdom along if I ever find myself wearing a blue T-shirt and speaking pseudo technical nonsense...

Too bad #1 was dropped on his head as a child.

LOL @ #9 Viewing angles on most LCD tvs are horrible compared to plasmas.

I have the 50" B650 version, wouldn't trade it for any other model. Cept maybe the 58" version.
