If you live in the NW, I think this TV is $999 in-store at Fred Meyer. ($50 more off if you buy some cheap beer)

At least it looks like the same TV as in the flyer, you'll have to check for yourself.

Plasma is going obselete, it shouldn't be this high of a price. I think Plasma uses twice the power of LCD.

#3, check the facts, you are wrong. Even in the past, plasma did not consume twice as much as LCD. With Panasonic leading the charge in the past couple of years on reducing plasma power consumption, the gap is narrowed further.

I just got this TV's big brother, the PN50B860, and absolutely LOVE it.

Plasma is not going away any time soon as it offers a better picture with better definition in the darks and lights (e "better blacks"). The 860 absorbs more light than it reflects so it does not have the "mirror" problem that many plasmas do.

I just hope Samsung improves on their DLNA support. Not being able to pause, ff, rew, or resume is a bit of a problem...

With cheaper prices on Plasmas, 1200 for a 50 inch HDTV is not a high price. for 52 inches on LCD it cost atleast 300-400 dollars more. That money can be saved to pay off the extra few bucks because of the power usage, even though it doesn't use that much more power than LCDs.

      #3,
      You're a crackup...

If you're going to post something in a public forum, you may want to not make yourself look completely clueless.

Every image test/review out there comparing plasma with LCD will almost always prefer a plasma. The only reason(s) to select an LCD have to do with glare (LCD's are better in a VERY brightly lit room) and weight (LCD's are lighter.) However, if you care about image quality, the blacks are better as well as color saturation, refresh rate and contrast with even a low end plasma. There just isn't really a comparison.

#2, you are a fool. Do not speak of things you obviously know nothing about.

this is a great tv, no regrets.

I have a similar Samsung and the picture quality is amazing! Don't be hesitant to buy a plasma. I looked at plasmas and LCDs side by side and had to go with the samsung plasma. There is a comparable panisonic viera plasma, but after meticulous investigations (changing the feed) and viewings the color quality of the Samsungs is really the best!
