Is this a good deal?
good reviews... nice looking TV! seems like a decent deal to me.
When it comes to Plasmas Panny's > Sammy's.
When it comes to LCDs Sammy's > Panny's.
1080p not worth it on 50" plamsas at distances > 8'. This looks like a good deal on this set, though
50" plasmas are now 1400 bucks? Geez.

The 58 incher is only a couple hundred more at Fry's.
I don't know. Everything I've seen is anything over 42" you should go with 1080p. Although, I would never buy a Samsung plasma.
granted yes, the 720p set is a much better price.. the sale price on the 1080p set is decent.. it's for sure better than a stick in the eye but after being spoiled from 1080p for the last year I would have a hard time going back to a lower res personally.. but I do sit fairly close to my TV.. about 7 or 8 feet.
buy a panny tc-p50g10 or a tc-p50g15. Better tv with similar features. Also, you'll save a couple hundred.
I bought this TV and a Sharp Aquos LCD last month. The plasma blows away the LCD. Highly recommended TV and a great price.
I reviewed all the plasmas and LCD's for a few months. Ultimately I bought the 73" Mitsubishi DLP. For the money you can't go wrong. Picture is just as good or even better then a plasma or LCD. Yes, you do have to replace the bulb in the DLP but most last 3-4 years and the bulb only costs $100. At first I was sold on buying a LCD or plasma but after viewing my DLP for a few months now, I am very happy with my Mitsubishi.
Just remember, Samsung has no customer support. They will not provide warranty service. If you have problems, always take or send it back to where you bought it if you can. Samsung will either make you send it to them at your expense and then send it back to you without fixing it, knowing that you will soon tire of paying shipping just to get the TV back the way you sent it. Their other tactic is to send a TV repair company to repair it and then say the part needed to fix it is backordered (it isn't they just say it is). They are hoping after 8 months without a working TV, you will give up. Warranty service is not a money maker. Samsung already has you money and has nothing to gain by providing warranty support. They know even if you and 10 of your friends never buy their products due to a bad warranty experience, there are billions of people who will. It just doesn't make sense for them to pay to provide warranty service.
#14 As long as YOU are happy with it, that's all that matters.
But to say that your monster RP DLP has better PQ than a plasma or LCD is just delusional.
#16..you are the one that is obviously dilusional. Have you viewed a DLP next to a plasma or LCD? Apparently not. Or you would have a different opinion. I just want to give people reading this an honest opinion on how good the mitsubishi dlp's really are compared to plasmas and LCD's. But as you say, it is up to the individual...
Great Tv on a Great Deal at 1stopcamera
they have $ 300.00 Instant Rebate
As a matter of fact, I viewed the 73" Mitsu last weekend at Fry's.... and I stand by my earlier comments.
While it does have a better picture compared to previous RP DLPs, I still noticed the hot-spotting with it's darker corners. PQ diminishes if you're not viewing from front and center, unlike plasmas.
What was more impressive, IMHO, was Mitsu's RP LazerVue. I would actually consider that if it were priced more competitively.
