Where does it say that this drive only has a 1.5MB buffer. I am not aware that Samsung skimps on the size of the buffer reducing it from 2mb to 1.5mb. Where did you get your info?
what's up with the dvd burners recently that only support one format (+ or -) or is that just a typo on newegg's website?
i also notice the drives are a little bit cheaper than the dvd±r/w burners, so i figure the savings is by skimping on the format support, but not cheap enough to garner me purchasing it over a dvd±r/w burner.
