I have this one. It's a good, fast drive. The retractable USB connector is also nice. The U3 software that comes with it is really cool. Love it.
Google Checkout gives you $10 but you effectively FORFEIT your ability to make a return. I purchased the Navman GPS listed a few days ago. Its terrible and useless if it can't find the address in its old-as-hell map software. Not to mention that it has 6 dead pixels. Absolutely terrible QC 3.5 inch screen.
I've been trying to return it for 2 days. No luck, the links for Order Lookup just send you in circles and you never get to an RMA number request page. Emails to Buy.com just get a response to the Order Lookup link.
DON'T USE GOOGLE CHECKOUT! UNLESS YOU KNOW YOU YOU'RE GOING TO KEEP IT AND YOU KNOW YOU WON'T GET A DEFECTIVE UNIT. (which is impossible)
Why would buy.com reject return with google checkout? You can request RMA the same way. Search the order, and there will be a return button.
#1, I agree, we got this through my work, and I love it. The encryption software is defenitely helpful too.
$40 @ Officemax (No rebates), and maybe you can find a $10 Off $20 coupon on Ebay or other kind....
I think there are going to be a lot of problems with the rebates that are using Google check out as a receipt..... So make copies of everything...
compUSA, $40 plus rebate.
Officemax offers free shippin over $50.
Ive been a fan of sandisk and lexar devices. The encryption for the key is definately helpful to protect any data you may need. Does this come with any Migo type software?
Just ordered one myself. Heck, if my wife can spend $60 on a rug I can "splurge" on this.
This is a really nice drive because it has no cap to misplace.
I have this one..bacon is really cheap...I mean it is a good price. It is amazing how cheaper and cheaper they get these days. I would get this one.
Can a "normal" USB drive be converted into a U3 format? If not, is there something similar that would work? I like the U3, but have a bunch of other drives that I'd like to be able to do the same thing with?
#2 - I think the confusion may be that the Buy.com order number is DIFFERENT than the Google Checkout order number. When you place an order at Buy.com using the Google Checkout, you will initially receive two emails: one from Google and one from Buy.com. The emails from Buy.com are sent by support@ customerservice.buy.com. The Buy.com emails contain the correct Buy.com Order Number, which is the 8-digit number near the end of the email, directly below "Sincerely, Customer Support Team." All subsequent emails from Buy.com will also contain that Order number. There is also a link in the Buy.com email that takes you to their Order Look-Up page:
https://secure.buy.com/corp/support/login.asp
Click on the Order Lookup button on the right half of the page. You will need to enter you... [Truncated]
#7 - I've been researching the U3 Smart drives for a couple days and noted that the bundled software varies with the different brands. It doesn't appear that the Sandisk U3 drives come with Migo. Here's the U3.com page on the bundled software that comes with each brand:
http://u3.com/smartdrives/default.aspx
It appears that the Verbatim and Intuix U3 drives offer the most bundled software. In the past couple weeks, Ben has posted rebate offers for the Intuix M300 series 2GB and 4GB U3 Smart Drives through SuperMediaStore.com. They are $29 and $58 after rebate. I was leaning towards 4GB deal. However, there is an error in the Intuix post in that shipping is not free. It added nearly $7 for ground shipping for something that weighs very little! To find Ben's posts, just enter Intuix in the Search box at the right column.
Kinda off-topic, but I've noticed that if you type in the three dots (...) in your post, sometimes Ben's server deletes the last dot and adds the word "bacon." LOL. Look at #10. I made a post a couple days ago, noticed it and had to remove my three dots. I've seen the word "bacon" a number of times in the past several months and thought the posters were just being sarcastic. LOL
... ...
Just got one of these and they are great. U3 loads up fast. The encryption works well, and you are able to load other apps from the U3 website. I'm still waiting on the rebate though. Great price.
Haha, Peter II!
I can't believe I actually believed Sunfish for a second..bacon
How is buy.com on rebates?
from what I've read, no cap but when you retract there is nothing covering the contacts. kinda of defeats the purpose of retracting it a bit. almost perfect except for that design flaw.
#17 buy.com rebates are reliable I guess. I got all of my rebates from buy.com so far.
Sold out at Offimax in my area.
I walked into Circuit city and with the 110% Price match, got it for $35/- no rebates. Sweet.
Try Best buy also for the Price match.
'njoy.
