Somebody gave me a 32 gb micro sd card that cannot be read. It was a bogus card they purchased on eBay. Beware of those great deals.

There will always be counterfeit cards. I would just make sure you buy it from legit places. Ebay is full of 64-265 thumb drives for cheap.
I got one like this from AMZN. Seemed to work okay at first but I was later getting errors. Eventually it died into a sort of non-error-read-only mode that made the overlying OS thing writes were being written properly. It was probably a counterfeit as well. I think the best bet is to insist on retail packaging. This was bulk packaged.
