If you can actually get the rebates, this might be a pretty awesome deal.
Not sure how much Ben gets from Abes, but they are a horrible online retailer. Read:
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Absof_Maine
http://photo.net/neighbor/view-one-about?id=2&about=Abe%27s+of+Maine
Don't believe the good reviews, they are likely spammed from the store. They are incredibly famous for bait and switch, dishonest business practices, and calling after your order to "confirm" and try to sell you expensive accessories.
I am a professional photographer on the side, and many of my pro photographer friends have spent tens of thousands on professional equipment at Abe's of Maine and have been VERY happy with their prices, selection, and service.
Also, I have done the SanDisk rebates before and have NEVER had a problem. In fact, once, the UPC didn't exactly match the code on the rebate form (there was an extra letter), so I called the rebate processor to ask if it would be OK. The rebate processor told me that SanDisk has instructed them to process ALL rebates (within reason) from SanDisk because they want to make sure their customers are HAPPY. She said that if they denied the claim I should call back and that their instructions directly from SanDisk are to pay out the rebate.
I'm glad that places like SanDisk have power over the rebate processors to keep their customers happy.
Oh, and the woman who answered the phone at the rebate processor was EXTREMELY nice and professional! (no pun intended given the SanDisk Extreme cards...)
Alright I guess I'm in for one. (or is that three?)

and they fart roses
Observation:
#3 = one of those store-spammers mentioned in post #1
i went for the 30mb/sec version
total $120 out the door including $10 shipping to ca
did anyone jump on these SD card deals they had during thanksgiving? were they able to receive their prepaid visas?
need filler to apply the coupon. Adding shipping kills the deal. Price of these things are falling like a rock.
I've never had problems with Abe's.
These guys have a long history of complaints -- you've been warned.
They charge me $8 to ship to MA !
I agree with #2, last time they have this deal and ordered SD cards, they sent me regular Sandisk and not Extreme III that is pictured in Ben's post. When I call and complain, they deny that the picture and description is incorrect. When I told them that we use this for church activities and lodge a complain at BBB, they refunded the cost of the SD less shipping.
BEWARE their bait and switch tactic, dishonest business practice.
Rebates are bull. Store spammers are everywhere, people don't realize it so easy. I have personally been screwed in more than 1 expensive rebates. Those who tell you that the rebate will certainly come have a motive. Those who criticize rebates don't have one.
beachcamera.com has the same prices, and allows the same rebate..
I have used these rebates through beachcamera before and got them pretty quick..
These cards rock.. Very fast!!!
free shipping and cheaper at beach. total came out to be $105. had to cancel my order at abes. hopefully there arent any problems w/ the cancellation.
thanks #14
The beachcamera 4G are $32 each! It more expensive!
http://www.beachcamera.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=SDSD4GE3
$35 for the 8gb 30mb/sec at beach
8 GB Extreme III 30MB/s Secure Digital HC Memory Card (SDSDX3-008G-A31}
I've received one of these VISA rebates without issue. Second promotion VISA had a slight delay (retailer put the shipping date as the "order" date, but rebate house fixed it and claims to have sent card this week). So as far as the rebates go, shouldn't be a problem getting the card - but it IS a sucky VISA prepaid card and not just a simple check.
HOWEVER - check this thread: http://bensbargains.net/deal/87096/
...looks like Abe's of Maine has been pulling some nasty tricks here, and I'll pass on this deal and others until they have been proven to stop scamming via Ben's....
got mine from adorama for $93 shipped with the $70 rebate. though they got here in 10 business days rather than the 4 days i paid for. don't know if they screwed up or the usps did it.
I've done this rebate in the past and got my rebate without a problem.
