Got it on BF from OM for about the same price. Good little drive, supports readyboost, although I can't tell any performance enhancement at all as Vista is so clunky anyways.

I use U3. Its pretty good. Only caveat is that it is slow to come up some times.

I find the retractable usb connector kind of annoying.

The key thing is whether this item has readyboost

Sandisk is a great company to buy from and deal with on the rare chance you get a defective item.

I second #3. I own the 2GB version of this and after about 3 months of use, the retractable slider is not reliable. Often, just the act of plugging the drive into the port will retract the drive.

has anyone taken the case off this thing? i wonder if the activity light is still in tact?

i have one but have not stripped it down yet. normally, i remove the plastic outsides, glue on a metal ring and end up with a much smaller drive for the key chain.

I don't know about the quality of the build, but Sandisk makes good products. It's a good deal if you need the size. I'm still using a 1gb one though... I've also got larger external drives though.

Get the Corsair Voyager 4GB from Newegg.com

Faster, cap stays on well, full soft rubber casing and no retractable BS.

I had a problem with the slider too until I learned to keep my finger off the button.

I'd rather deal with the slider than have to hunt for a missing cap on a regular drive.

This is a good price for a good product.

    Avg speed on this drive.
Reading/writing 4GB of info can take a little bit of time.
You can find faster devices for the same money.
