Go to any store outther right now and you can find just asgood a deal as this. That way you don't have to deal with Buy. Their service sucks. It is usually more pain than it is worth.
Buy.com is one of a couple companies being investigated by the government for giving out customers creit card information to a web scam service called 'Webloyalty'.
Buy.com has lost my trust and any future business. I recommend you reconsider before giving this company any credit info or you may suddenly find some unauthorized monthly charges on your credit card.
to anyone shopping online, i would suggest getting a citibank credit card and using their virtual account numbers. You can create credit card numbers for specific transactions with specific expiration dates and $$ limits. And it can only be used by the one company. After the transaction is complete you can even close the credit card number before the exp date.
if this was $5, then it would be a deal
i used virtual cc # during the $10 gco days when i ordered something almost every day ))) only recently buy mistakingly double charged me and issued refund immeditately. i didn't know they are being investigated. no good "deals" lately anyway.
Thank you #2 and #3. I wasn't aware that Buy.com was being reviewed by the government (sadly I have done some business with them!). And #3's tip is a very good one since it is a great line of defense, it takes more time and effort but it is well worth it.
Have the 2GB version of this and works great. The retractable works well and holds in place.
go win the ipod.
good one
good price, no line & hassle when buying online
It's not just Buy.com, it's also Orbitz, Pizza Hut, Fandango, and many others. What's happening is that after you make a purchase, there's another page from a third party that pops up w/ some special offer that you can accept. The problem is that you never put in your credit card number and the fact that you're agreeing to pay isn't made clear.
Here's a good article on what was going on and a list of companies doing it: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/11/17/ptm-scams-scamville-rockefeller-senatehearing-wallofshame/
Can't wait for the bill outlawing this nonsense.
I have 3 of these and never had one go bad, where OCZ and Kingston have failed me and ended up on the trash. Actually I will never by OCZ again after the bad CS experience.
