This is not a deal. Prices are falling and this is no deal at this time for this unit.

It actually seems okay to me - at least, most of the deals for 8GB flash drives I've seen recently that go below this price, are mail-in rebate hassles. Though if you see a better one out there, feel free to post it, I'm still looking for one!

If you're going to say 'this isn't a good deal', post better ones to back it up.

BizRate search has Adata 8gb for 25 with free shipping. Google search has 13 for under $20 with no free shipping. Look it up.

My 4GB of the same type just died. Emailed sandisk support last week, still waiting for a reply. About 3 mo old, hardly used...

I like the SanDisk over the other USB key designs because of the retracting connector and the overal look, so a good price on a Sandisk outweights cheaper prices on other random companies.

I have an A-DATA 8GB-got it for 26 shipped maybe 6 months ago. write speed is 2.5MB/s tops, reads at 10-15. This Sandisk writes at 15MB/so, reads over 30. now whether that difference is 10 dollars worth...

#9, Just got mine for $20 after Google check out ( no rebate).

    Speed:
** Write: Sandisk said 5MB write, but I got ~8MB write with big files. Got the 200MB file wrote to the Sandisk in 26 sec. This is about 53x write speed. (their Platinum is rated at 150x and a metal housing if you are willing to pay more)

**Read is very very fast it's like 3-5 times as fast as write.

It small in size but is fairly flimsy. Plastic housing is not very strong. You might break it when step on it on a hard floor.

Sandisk is one of the fastest and most reliable name. But they are starting to lower their sell price thus lower their warranty: this thing only comes with 2 year warranty.
I guess after 2 years, it is not worth to return it for repair. $20 might be able to buy a 64GB by then!

This SanDisk Cruzer Micro is compatible with Vista? How bad is Vista if even USB drives are not backward compatible?

Expanding on #13's comment on SanDisk warranty.

I own several SanDisk Secure Digital Cards. I purchased one of the 1GB Ultra II Secure Digital Card and it gave me problems writing files trying to format. I contacted Sandisk and informed them of my problem, they asked what equipment I was using. They came back and said I should have checked with the manufacturer of the equipment to see if it was compatible.

    WHAT!

Lets see I have tried to get this card to work in two different Nikon cameras, two Dell Computers, two Gateway desktops, one Gateway Laptop, three emachines, two usb readers (one was made by Sandisk), a Palm TX, and MP3 player.

You would think they would replace it but know they say card should be fine, it should be but it is not. So much for life time replacement.

This works fine with Vista. I've got the 4GB and the U3 software works great on three different Vista machines (Home and Ultimate).
