Newegg has the refurbished SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 4GB MP3 Player for $23 with free shipping. Features 1" OLED, microSDHC, microSD support, FM radio tuner, 40 presets, voice recorder, and belt clip.
good price, though i got it for $1 cheaper from meritline on fri.
i have both this clip+ and a fuze v2; both 4 GB and refurb (though from buy.com and 1saleaday, respectively). unit's received in perfect functional condition and 99.9% cosmetic condition (1 mm long hairline scratch on corner of fuze's face, not on the screen).
i can't tell you about the original firmware because i immediately install rockbox. the uniform interface is especially nice when you have multiple devices.
a lot of people complain about the fragility of the clip+'s clip, but i haven't had any trouble with it, though i don't use it either. the clip is primarily for the family to listen to mp3s in the car from an 8 GB microsdhc instead of a handful of mp3 cds.
i can't speak about the battery life because we don't use it for long periods of time (an hour or two in the car or a few hours at work) before being able to plug it in to a computer at home. it does seem shorter than advertised (24 & 15 hours for the fuze & clip+, respectively), but by how much i don't know and somewhat to be expected as they are refurb/used and battery capacity decreases with use and time.
^ You might be able to get the scratch out with plastic polish.
The geek in me loves Rockbox on my non-+ Clip, but eventually I discovered it isn't 100% stable... either the OS itself crashes or it can't handle MP3s with some kind of format, codec settings or errors that the original firmware can handle.
Regardless Clip+ for $23 is great, I just wish it was somebody other than Sandisk that made these because after flash chip density went up again we should've had 8GB for $23... except that Sandisk always likes to charge a premium for flash memory. I doubt they're even manufacturing 4GB MLC flash chips anymore.
The clip on the Clip and Clip+ is fragile, it'll work ok for a while then develop a crack in the top between the hinge tabs. If I'd thought about it ahead of time I would have put a little blob of clear epoxy on that area to reinforce it, which is what I'll do with the next Clip I buy.
