This is so superior to piece of crap ipod, and at this price there is no competition.
microSD expansion slot is limited to 2gb. And, a bit tricky to try and use multiple 2gb microSD cards. I attempted to use a 4gb microSDHD card without luck. And, used 2-2gb microSD cards with mixed luck. Nice feature. Nice Player. But, educate yourself first at Sandisk site Forums.
#2--Thank you for the info on the microSD card size limitation. I don't think this player will have enough space for me even with an added 2 Gb microSD card.
Blah to both iPod fan boys/gals and anti apple folks.
It's an okay deal, pretty good player, yes extremely cheaper than a sleek looking ipod nano and what not. Yes it has more features such as video playing and expansion and replaceable battery.
What they need is a replaceable SDHC chip as well so you can upgrade it via normal SDHC and also a micro SDHC. The new Sansa View also allows you to connect it to a tv and play movies.
This is an old gen mp3 player, this does not support SDHC (high capacity which hasn't reached a limit). MicroSD Regular seems to peak at 2gb.
Still waiting for that mp3 player that has it all for the regular customer and enthusiast. It seems the view took a few steps backwards in audio quality and the fact you can't replace the battery.
To be honestly, I purchased one from Woot, it died in a month, and personally I did not like the feel of the buttons and what not. Plus its extremely slow to sync up with Rhapsody.
I got one a while back and love it. I immed put rockbox on it (http://www.rockbox.org/) which is a much better OS (dual boot). Also, it enables SDHC support for the slot.
You can go higher than 2gb for the microsD card if you put the rockbox firmware on it. Rockbox also lets you view videos that you place on the card as well. The firmware takes a little gettingused to, but is very nice once you get used to it.
Really? Rockbox enable SDHC? I thought it was a hardware limitation rather than software...
If it is a v2, not compatible with Rockbox yet...
