There are huge number of "refurb" deals on e200 Sansas. Is it because of huge number of returns?
I like mine. It is a 2g refurb. Got it for 20$ shipped from Buy.com around Xmas. I'd much rather have this than an ipod mini or whatever (which even though they are so old would still be more $). This has a color screen, can play video, and FM tuner.
The only con is I couldn't seem to get Rockbox to boot up on this one.
Also, just this morning I was wondering what happened to it when I found it on the floor under my bunk bed. It fell from about 7 ft high onto a hard wood floor and does not show any sign of damage and works fine. Def. a well made product!
I have 2-2g and 1-4g, waiting for the 8G refurb.
Great player.
#1 to answers your question as simply as possible, no. Most companies will take the top .5-1% of their premium stock and repackage it as refurbished in an effort to maximize profitability through increased volume at discounted prices. Buy with confidence.
I have the 4GB refurb, bought last month from Woot. Great player. FM reception is a bit weak, and it took me a while to find the volume limiter in the settings. Now it's adequately loud when played through the Aux-in on my car deck.
I have 750 songs and 5 episodes of ATHF on mine, and there's lots of room to spare.
Yeah #2, Sansa changed the hardware in later builds and Rockbox does not work on these later versions.
I have the (older) 8GB with Rockbox, and love it - especially since I can plug in a 4GB microSD and make it a 12GB!
#4, I once bought Sandisk refurb(e250) from woot and it was defective, cracked screen. So no confidence for sandisk refurbs. Sandisk QC is bad.
I got the e260 from Woot last month, Synced it with rhapsody and it was nothing but problems.
Avoid.
#7 ,I once bought a Honda and it had a flat tire. Must have been defective. I will never buy a Honda again. Honda QC is bad.
I can't believe no one has commented on the fact that #2 sleeps in a bunk bed...I nearly shat myself reading his post!
wow, #7, good thing i didn't buy a 2GB version about two years ago and have it worked flawlessly since. darn it. stupid QC.
I have the e280 (8GB) and absolutely love it. At the time I bought it, a comparable iPod Nano was $130 more! The only down side is that the shuffle play is not that great at all as it regularly repeats songs.
I just bought this e270 for my kid who's now getting into music and hopefully we'll have the same experience with this unit as I've had with my e280.
#5: As for the reception, I've noticed that as well but also remember that the reception is greatly affected by the headphone cord in many cases. I've found that the pair of headphones on which there was a fairly long cord, did not get as great of a reception.
#9 cracked screen on Sansa is kinda like a broken engine on Honda. Not a flat tire.
woot has sold out already! dang it!
They always have like the 30Gig zune's for $90. I would think that's a better deal.
#10 yeh I figured I would catch flack for that, it did sound pretty lame when I typed it, but here's a hint.... I'm still in college, must optimize space, etc.
Thus, no I'm not some 10 yr old that has to sleep in the same room as his lil brother or some BS.
you're welcome for the lulz
#15, we havent seen one of those deals in quite a while. But yeah, it would be better.
#5 where is the volume limiter??
how's voice recording quality?
Thanks #16...I remember the days...Just always called it a 'loft' so I didn't sound like a 12 year old. Thanks for the laugh...
