    it's a crapshoot. I've tried from buy.com and woot and got V2. I found an auction on Ebay where the seller happened to mention the firmware version and dumped the other 2.

    Buy.com has the red for same price. Strange how the colors besides black often cost more.

    If you have any desire to watch videos on it you might wait for another deal on the 8GB version.

    I got one of these before Christmas and it is flawless, which leads me to question.... why so many sansa refurbs?

    ^ #5, Sandisk seems to keep manufacturing rate higher than retail sales, then they divert surplus stock to a line that stamps "refurbished" or "R", depends on the player, to a whitebox line with just the earbuds and cord.

    IOW, some places may really be selling refurbished product but most of them are new at high volume sellers like Buy.com, Newegg, etc.
