Flash memory prices dropped but prices for players with more memory haven't yet compared to otherwise same models. If you're not in a hurry you might wait and see if there are some discounts or rebates. Otherwise even the 4GB version seems a little overpriced, though I guess that's what you get stuck with when a company assumes that if you want a full featured audio player that it means you also want to look at tiny videos and pictures.

First, this is not a "deal". The Sansa Fuze can easily be found for $110 or less. #1, I would take the Sansa Fuze over the iPod Nano, or the MS Zune, since both of them are short on features by comparison, and completely lack the ability to expand capacity with memory cards. The Fuze is a very nice improvement over the Sansa e200 series. It's nearly as thin as an iPod Nano, and sound quality is very good. As an MP3 player/FM radio/voice recorder, at an attractive price, it's a good choice, as long as you are OK with on-board memory topping out at only 8GB. You can always buy memory cards to expand it's capacity, and like all Sansa players, the memory card integrates with the main memory. If you are planning on using it for video however, forget it. The small screen has poor resolution compared to others, and tops out at only 20FPS.

External memory DOES NOT integrate with main memory in Sansa players. You are stuck syncing two separate drives.

8gb microsdhc is ~$34 on Amazon in bulk. 16GB is coming out hence why the 8gb has dropped. Also, some people say they are fakes but other people on other forums and Sandisk has proven otherwise. Plus...you'll be using them on this or any other MP3 player where speed doesn't matter as much then say - if you use it on a camera.

I'm just waiting for cellphone/mp3 player hybrids to get cheaper. No use to lug around both.
