i need a new remote
#1, you need eyeglasses
I bought this same deal last time it popped up. I like the player and think it was an amazing deal.
Audio: Audio quality is nice, the headphones it comes with are better than what you'd get with most $10 pairs of headphones, but they don't really do the quality of the player justice.
Video: The screen size is 2.4" and the resolution is 320x240, so it's pretty much equivalent to an ipod video. It supports video bitrates up to 2MB/s so the quality remains high. Videos are very enjoyable at that resolution, but it would be inadequate for something with subtitles and if there's a really flashy action scene it gets annoying.
other pros:
-FM tuner that will auto-create presets, has pretty good reception and you can even record the radio feed at a pretty good quality.
-Micro SD slot.
-Thin.
-Voice recorder, the quality sucks but it's good enough for taking notes or making a reminder.
-It has some sort of audiobook mode I haven't tried, but it's supposed to make it easy to navigate audiobooks by chapters.
-A compatible version of the rockbox firmware is being made for it. This is an open source firmware with many features designed for use on many different players. It also has games compatibility.
-8GB may seem small compared to an ipod, but it's still a huge amount of songs, and videos don't take up a lot of space when compressed to 320x240 anyways.
-Charges off a USB port.
-You can buy a VGA cable for it (~$10) and use it to stream video to a TV (at up to 640x480 resolution).
the cons:
-The screen could have been a little bigger, or the player could have been a little smaller, but I find it fits in my pocket comfortably and I guess it's a compromise for cost.
-The sansa media converter is slow, but... [Truncated]
I really like the microSD expansion that allows me to carry large files without the need to upload the files to the player's internal memory. I only need to carry several microSD cards.
You don't have to use the Sansa converter for videos? What does it use? I think the e200 series had to use the converter.
#5, transfer any data to the Sansa, music or photo or video, like you would transfer the data to an USB flash drive.
Seems like a good deal to me. I bought a refurb Onkyo receiver from ecost about 3 years ago and I have yet to have any problems out of it ... knock on wood.
I like the Sansa line but I don't see the point of a video player with such a small screen.
I have one and only use the video when I'm catching up on TV while on the treadmill or eliptical machine at the gym. It works well for that.
Sansas are great but the screen is too small.
You can use software River Past to automatically convert your video. I read all kinds of bad reviews about this player but did not have any issue with this refurbished item. I bought this item as a voice recorder but found the video and sound very high quality. Major problem: battery drains quickly, has no wall or car charger, comes only with USB charger chord. Belkin sells a charging kit for $20. No way to open casing to change lithium battery like the E200 series. I knew about these issues but for the price I wasn't deterred. It is just loaded with features. My wireless cellphone can do the same but doesn't have sound and video quality.
