The 16GB version for $83 that was posted yesterday was a much better deal.

Yeah, I was gonna say, 16GB is a better value. This isn't really a deal.

Note that this is a NEW 8GB, whereas the 16GB offer was a refurb.

Having said that I bought the 16GB refurb from Overstock a few weeks ago and it was spotless, though it came only with USB cable and headphones (no manual, CD or anything else).

I like it. Good sound quality, expandable using microSD and easy to use with the clickwheel. Wouldn't recommend for video - the screen's too small.

Also note: with the latest firmware, it lets you select whether to connect in MTP or MSC mode. (With the older firmware, you had to follow a weird and arcane set of steps to connect in MSC mode)

Same story as #4, though I don't mind the video (of course, haven't tried a full-length movie yet!). No trouble converting my DivX movies over to MP4.

Only point I'll add is that I own the Clip and the View, and boy what a difference in the user communities on the Sansa forum. The View owners are pretty bitter--it seems that Sansa has stopped updating the firmware, and they are buggy little beasts (compared to the Clip). I'd also take a VERY skeptical view of anyone who cheerfully suggests that a Rockbox solution is coming (I seriously doubt it).

#5 was that the 8GB View or a 8GB e280 that you got from Buy.com?
