Newegg has the Sans Digital TR5M-B 5-Bay SATA to eSATA JBOD / RAID 0, 1, 1+0, 5 Enclosure (Black, Silver)for $200 with free shipping. This accesses five hard drives using only one cable and support hot-swappable SATA I and SATA II.

For $5 I picked up the AMS DS-2350S which is about the same as this. But has dual cooling fans, which provided me a little safety margin should a fan die. There will still be some airflow and not cook my drives.

I'm sure that #1 meant $5 *more* (the unit they describe is $205).

The unit Ben has posted here has slightly better reviews.

For less than another $20, go with the Intel SS4200-E storage server (do a search on Newegg).

I have one of each. The TR5M-B matches my desktop case better and the AMS is going on ebay shortly.

AMS is virtually identical but doesn't have the mesh screen door to get in the way of hot swapping your drives. It also allows you lock drives in place with a little triangular plastic knob "key" which I guess would be useful if you tend to stumble around drunk and randomly pull drives out of your enclosures.

TR5M-B is a little quieter (only a single fan) but they seem to keep the drives right around the same temp. Newegg did have a bundle offer a couple days ago (not sure if it's still up now) for the TR5M-B and a 1tb drive for $219 + free s/h.

@kblam - not even in the same category. The Intel storage server has four drive bays - all internal and inaccessible without a screwdriver. It's also a NAS running linux - not an external storage expansion device.
