      This camcorder works great...until it doesn't which is frequent. The screen will go black, yet all functions work. It appears it has a defect in the iris lubricant - it gets "sticky" after time and the iris (over the lens) closes and won't open anymore - then everything is black.

      I've had it happen twice on our HD2. They charged $180 to fix it the first time. Not worth it to fix again.

      Beware other models like this from Sanyo! Although, I hope they've learned their lesson...
