eBay with Hi-PC has the SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter for $7 with free shipping. Connect any device with an IDE/SATA Interface to a PC with USB interface and supports data transfer rates up to 480Mbps with USB 2.0 standards.
Some older drives will not work with these adapters; but, I never know which ones will or won't 'til I try. Very useful, tho for getting extra life out of old drives or just for file Xfers.
while these do work, they can be finicky (e ide drives have to be set to master) so some people have user error troubles with them.
setting an IDE drive to slave or master has nothing to do with this kit being finicky.
What will happen if the drive is set to submissive?
These are handy to have around if your computer/laptop dies.
