Do NOT use one of these to convert an ATAPI device (optical drives) to SATA. ATAPI over SATA isn't well supported by most SATA controllers/drivers yet. Stick with only standard ATA devices (fixed disks).

I have tried several of these. None worked well enough to rely on them. Better off getting the USB version, unless you are using it for an OS. Then just pay the $$$ and get SATA.

I bought one of these last month and used it in a Dell Dimension E310. It worked flawlessly.
