Sit on top kayak. Good for a lake. Wouldn't use this on rapids.
I love my Sea Eagle Kayak. Yes, it does look more like a canoe. I bought mine because I wanted a vessel to be in creeks and lakes but didn't have space for a hard kayak in my apartment. Its quite heavy duty. I'm quite comfortable with its stability with 2 people of 200lbs riding in it. Its made from the same extremely heavy rubber/canvas material as those Zodiacs (usually used to move people from the shore to a yacht) with a motor on the back. The reason I had a chance to try this out before I bought it was because REI had a kayak demo day in my area. Just my 2 cents.
