Too bad I just got my 400GB SATA from Fry's. I really wanted to get the extra 100GB.

This is the 7200.9 older model. This is not the perpendicular drive.
Fry's does have the same drive, but it is now $169.99.

This is a slighter older drive but still a great deal at 500GB under $100. A faster 500GB drive is the samsung spin point T166 HD501LJ only $10 more at newegg. Check out this review which recommends the spinpoint:

Toms Hardware Hard Drive Charts show the 7200.9 faster than the SpinPoint T166 in the workstation benchmark, webserver benchmark, and tied in random access.

It looks like the spinpoint comes out a bit on top for Windows XP Load times.

All in all, it looks like a wash to me.

3year warranty on one, 5 year on the other, and $10 difference.

But I would guess that the perpendicular seagate 7200.10 would have an edge in reliability and performance and for about the same price, looks like a better deal to me.

Has anyone recently bought a larger Seagate from Newegg and received 7200.9? I'm wondering if they merely failed to update the product specs, didn't think 7200.9 was being made anymore so there shouldn't be any new stock at 'egg unless they're just now clearing out some excess old stock.
