seagates are great
over price?
Only $5 cheaper than Newegg.
don't you get WD 500GB for $99 at Fry's?
#4 Why don't you find out and let us know you lazy ass.
With sales tax comes to .23/GB . Decent deal on a decent drive if you need one now, otherwise you can find these slightly cheaper @ online retailers without tax and free shipping.
#4, WD doesn't have a 5-year warranty. Plus, Ben has posted this one for $100 before. Seems like 2 years is worth $1 to me...
Plus, does WD have a freaking 3D defense system. lol.
5-year warranty is definitely a big bonus
I bought one and tried to pick one up locally, but they were out of stock when I arrived so I ended up with a $24.00 gift card.
Warning: this one does runs very hot if overclocked, your data might melt.
#11, you know why? It's old version, .9. That's why it's cheap.
It's hard to consider this a deal when clicking on Ben's history link at the top of the page reveals it's been selling at this price, or less, for 8 months now.
#13 - Well, consider it *still* a deal, then.
Get the 32MB buffer one for $10-$15 more.
...and what advantage does one see in the extra 16mb for "$10-$15 more"?

seagate is definite one of the best but i have seen external one 500gb for lower price so not big bargain for me
Seagate is mainly good for the warranty, without that I'd rather a WD or Hitachi.
Darn shame we still aren't seeing platter density increases translate into lower cost or higher capacity at the $100 mark. Plus, it's just strange how Frys keeps flipflopping between high and low prices at the 400-650GB range. In retrospect I should've bought some of those 650GB PATA drives for $115(?) when they had 'em.
#12, are there really 7200.9 drives still out there at any major retailers? It's been quite a while since 7200.10 was sold everywhere else, I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have rotated stock.
good for my movies.
